Heat Pump Rebates for Natural Gas and Propane Homes
For homes currently heated with natural gas or propane, rebate programs may cover up to 100% of the upgrade cost when switching to a high-efficiency electric heat pump system.
Eligible households in British Columbia can receive enhanced heat pump rebates based on income level and system type. The table below outlines the maximum rebate amounts available for qualifying heat pump installations.
To qualify for the northern rebate top-up, homes must be located north of and including the District of 100 Mile House (latitude 51.628°N) and be connected to BC Hydro electric service.
Dual-fuel heat pump rebates apply only to homes primarily heated by tanked propane or natural gas supplied by Pacific Northern Gas.
HVAC Rebate Eligibility Requirements in Vancouver
To qualify for available HVAC rebates in Vancouver, your home must meet specific eligibility requirements set by provincial and utility programs.
Income Qualification Requirements
Rebate eligibility and coverage amounts are determined based on:
Combined household income of all adults
Total number of occupants (adults and children)
Deadline
The application and supporting documentation must be submitted by the program registered contractor within six (6) months of the invoice date.

You must live in an eligible home:
Home Requirements
You must live in an eligible residential property that meets the following conditions:
The property must be a year-round primary residence and at least 12 months old
For applicants in income levels 1 or 2, the total assessed property value must be $1,230,000 or less, based on the BC Assessment listing for the year of registration
If your household meets income eligibility but the property value exceeds $1,230,000, the application will be assessed under income level 3
You must have an active residential utility account with FortisBC, BC Hydro, or a municipal utility
Utility bills must be paid directly by the resident or homeowner (accounts under strata corporations or landlords are not eligible)
Eligible Residential Building Types
Single-family detached homes
Secondary suites in detached homes with separate utility meters
Permanently fixed mobile homes on foundations
Duplexes, triplexes, row homes, or townhomes with individual gas or electricity meters
If you rent your home, a landlord consent form must be submitted with your application.
You must also pre-register and receive an eligibility code before completing any HVAC upgrade.
Existing Heating System Requirement
Your home must currently be primarily heated by one of the following:
Natural gas, propane, or oil
Electricity (baseboards, radiant floors/ceilings, electric furnaces or boilers)
Wood or other solid fuel systems
How to Apply for HVAC Rebates in Vancouver

- Complete the program’s pre-screen and pre-registration to determine your eligibility through the CleanBC Energy Savings Program participant portal. Once confirmed you will receive an eligibility code and opportunities report, outlining your suggested upgrades. You can also make an appointment with an Energy Savings Program coach or schedule a virtual assessment for pre-registration assistance or support to identify the best upgrades for your home.
- Customer must choose an program registered contractor to complete the upgrade.
- Contractors interested in becoming registered in the Energy Savings Program can contact ESPcontractorsupport@clearesult.com or visit the contractor portal.
- After completing the upgrade, the contractor will submit the rebate application and deduct the rebate from the final cost of the upgrade.
